Settings for your mail client for Hostedemail Contents Webmail PortalIMAPPOP The following settings will provide a way for our Professional email services (webmail) to be accessed through a third-party email client (e.g., Outlook, Mac Mail) or a mobile device (e.g., iPhone, Android). Webmail Portal https://mail.hostedemail.com Before setting up your mail client, sign in to our webmail portal with your email address and password to make sure that you have the right password. If the password is incorrect, you can set it at the Email Manager. IMAP Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) allows access to email on a shared server from multiple devices and locations. We recommend setting up webmail with IMAP. IMAP keeps the data on the server and synchronizes any changes to all clients. We recommend using SSL for better login security. The device may say this is an optional configuration, but if not complete, the ability to send emails will not be functional. POP Post Office Protocol (POP) was initially designed as a way to access webmail by downloading your emails off of a mail server. The mail is stored locally on the specific device and client that is used to access webmail. Messages downloaded through POP are not able to be accessed from any other device or mail client. While POP mail is still supported, IMAP is the preferred method of setting up webmail.
